The AoM/IAoM invites academicians and practitioners of management, education, leadership, and information systems to submit abstracts, papers, panels, symposia, cases studies, teaching cases, research-in-progress and innovative presentation formats and demonstration projects for its annual conference. As in previous years, delegates have the opportunity to showcase their work and network with colleagues from a broad range of disciplines among a national and international group of presenters and attendees. Moreover, the AoM/IAoM offers conference delegates leadership opportunities in national and international capacities and on the editorial boards of the journals sponsored by the AoM/IAoM and its publisher Maximilian Press.

Competitive papers are peer-reviewed by one of several independent committees with expertise in the four MELT domains. Review criteria include significance of the work, clarity of presentation, writing quality, methodological rigor, and theoretical and practical contributions to the domain selected. Work crossing disciplinary boundaries is particularly encouraged. Paper submissions are blind refereed and proceedings are distributed at the conference location. To facilitate the blind review process, author information must not appear in submissions other than the title page.

All submissions, quantitative, qualitative, empirical, theoretical, conceptual, descriptive or tutorial in nature must not have been previously presented or published elsewhere. Only papers submitted by the deadline will be considered for best paper awards. To facilitate the transition from the initial submission to the final camera-ready paper, first submissions should follow the required format for the final camera-ready papers (click here for proceedings guidelines). It is recommended that prospective delegates engage colleagues in the review process prior to submitting papers to AoM/IAoM for blind review. Full-length proceedings papers should not exceed six (6) single spaced pages although different numbers of pages may be allocated depending on the presentation format required.

SESSION FORMATS (back to top)

The formats described below are intended as a guide to possible ways of presenting one’s scholarly work. Delegates are encouraged to explore creative and innovative alternative formats, especially those which invite audience participation and involvement.

PLENARY SESSIONS (back to top)

Plenary leaders whose work addresses paradigm issues and challenges embedded in MELT, is innovative, creative and breaks from conventional perspectives on management, education, leadership and technology, are invited to make groundbreaking contributions to either one of the four domains or present multidisplinary, boundary-spanning research, theory or applications. WANTED: PLENARY LEADERS WITH VISIONS FOR NEW PARADIGMS!

FULL-LENGTH PAPERS (back to top)

Competitive, full-lengths papers make up the core of the conference program. They are organized into concurrent sessions, each of which will be constituted of three or four papers of no more than 5000 words each. Each paper can only be submitted to ONE MELT domain.

RESEARCH-IN-PROGRESS PAPERS (back to top)

Research-in-Progress papers may be submitted as short papers (3-4 pages) or abstracts, up to one(1) page describing an ongoing research project or study.

ABSTRACTS (back to top)

Abstracts of no more than one single spaced page in length are accepted for those not desiring publication of a completed paper. Abstract submissions are most suitable for practitioners and academics seeking to address their topic in an informal way.

PANELS AND SYMPOSIA (back to top)

A symposium or panel consists of a series of speakers whose presentations clearly address a particular topic, theme, or issue. Panel discussions and symposia typically include a chairperson or moderator and 3-4 presenters offering their perspectives on a single issue. They should provide opportunity for audience discussion and engagement. Proposals for panel discussions and symposia must include a cover sheet with the names, affiliations and addresses, phone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses of all presenters and a 2-3 page general summary followed by one page abstracts of each individual presentation. Panel and symposia authors may request 60, 90, 120, or 150 minutes of program time. All panelists and symposium participants must register for the conference and be present at the time of the presentation.

WORKSHOPS (back to top)

Workshops are offered either as part of pre-conference activities or as part of the regular program. They are designed to help colleagues learn about a particular method or explore a specific perspective. Workshops vary in length; workshop leaders must request the amount of time (60, 90, 120, or 150 minutes or half and full days) required when submitting the workshop proposal. Workshops should involve audience participation and sharing of practical skills. Workshops that have been popular in the past included how to sharpen business writing skills and how to develop a code of ethics for the employing firm.

TUTORIALS (back to top)

Tutorials are presentations with specific educational objectives. Tutorials may be technically focused (i.e., a tutorial on a particular analytic technique or demonstration of new software), career development focused (i.e., mid-career challenges for managers in transitions), or learning focused (i.e., how to design a provocative blog or prepare persuasive presentations). Proposal for tutorials, 2-4 pages in length, should include an abstract of the tutorial, a description of the specific content to be taught, an outline of the tutorial presentation and a brief description of the presenter's background and expertise in the content area of the tutorial.

INTERACTIVE ROUND TABLE (back to top)

These sessions are designed to facilitate high levels of interaction by utilizing dialogue between roundtable discussant(s) and conference participants. Participants may visit several roundtable during the time periods allocated for each roundtable.

POSTER (back to top)

Posters are visual displays of papers or projects that are exhibited on poster boards (room divider type stands). Authors of posters are standing by their displays for further information regarding the paper or project and will make hardcopies available to attendees visiting their posters.

CONVERSATION WITH JOURNAL AUTHOR (back to top)

Authors of recently published books or journal articles are available for Q & A regarding their research. Attendees who wish to have the author autograph their books need to bring the publication to these sessions.

SESSION LENGTH (back to top)

Sessions are organized into 90 minute time blocks with three (3) or four(4) presentations per session and include 10 minutes for questions/discussions. Prospective participants with special time requirements should contact Dr. T. J. Mills at aomgt@inter-source.org. Workshops, symposia and panels vary in length ranging from 60-150 minutes. Chairs of these types of submissions must request the amount of time required with the initial proposal. NOTE: The AoM/IAoM is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, which cannot provide compensation for workshop presenters, plenary leaders, reviewers or conference staff.

SPONSORSHIP (back to top)
